The Animal Response Exercise was held on October 14-16, 2016 at Crisis City! Many of the volunteers in attendance, as well as trainers, were called away to respond to one of the hurricane events that occurred that weekend.
In 2017, the annual Kansas Animal Preparedness Conference will return. Plans are to alternate between a conference and a hands on training exercise every other year.
At the end of July, 2016, JoCART was awarded a $2,500 Grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the ASPCA.
This Grant was awarded to retrofit the JoCART Companion Animal Mobile Equipment Trailer, also known as a CAMET Trailer and purchase necessary supplies. The trailer carries items to provide Immediate shelter for Companion Animals when deployed by FEMA.
JoCART wants to thank the ASPCA for their generosity. Since 2013, JoCART has been the recipient of three grants awarded by the ASPCA.
